Vegas Helicopters - Trips to Grand Canyon

Vegas helicopter excursions to the Grand Canyon can be purchased every day of the year. Choose between air or landing tours. And before you book, look at this article to cut costs.

Because it's just 120
miles away, the West Rim is a quick 45-minute flight from Vegas. You can even land at the canyon if you choose, or you can pick an air-only tour. Here's some quick info to help you make your decision.

Departure Points: There are two places from which Las Vegas choppers bound for the Grand Canyon take off: Boulder City's heliport and the world-famous Las Vegas Strip. The Strip is set right in the middle of all the Vegas resorts and restaurants while the airport in Boulder City is a 30-minute ride away.

Boulder City flights are cheaper and I usually recommend them for people with limited budgets. Just be aware that you'll need to take a half-hour shuttle van ride from your Vegas hotel to the airfield and then back when your tour's over (it's included in the price, but still?).

Strip flights are more expensive but also much more convenient. You'll probably be able to get to the heliport in about ten minutes. These tours have an added bonus of giving you a bird's eye view of the Strip when you lift off and land, plus the free transportation provided is in the form of a limo ride rather than a crowded shuttle bus. The "extras" make the price a great value.

As the name implies, the air-only tours circle over the West Rim and fly back to Vegas without landing. The landing tours set down at the canyon, either on top of the rim or on the canyon floor. Once you get off the chopper, you can take part in different fun adventures.

Of all the Canyon landing tours, the one that lands on the bottom and includes a Champagne picnic is far and away the most popular with travelers. Going from the top to the bottom is a 3,500-foot descent, and it's something you'll remember for a lifetime! You can celebrate your safe landing with a nice glass of bubbly!

If that's not adventuresome enough, you can add Skywalk tickets and a float trip down the Colorado River to your tour package.

I always recommend mid-morning departures for landing tours on Las Vegas helicopters. That is, book a flight that lifts off sometime between 8am and noon. Don't get bent out of shape if you can't snag one, but I think they're worth trying for. It's usually a little cooler at the canyon in the mornings, plus the air is less turbulent and clearer than.

Wrapping Up...

If you're going to be in Vegas, you don't want to miss the chance to go to the canyon. The West Rim is not too far away and seeing it from a chopper is a thrilling experience. Take a landing tour if you can, and consider the one that takes off from the Strip and flies you down to the floor of the canyon. Summer is a busy time at the canyon since many people take vacations then, so be sure to book your tour in advance in case they sell out the day you want to go.
