Sacramento Hotels, Sacramento History

California was once a state that ping-ponged its capital between three different cities. It moved from Monterey to San Jose to Vallejo to Benicia -- all in an effort to keep the lurking Mexican Empire at bay. I know it sounds wonky now, but given the two thousand miles separating Washington, DC from California, it was conceivable President Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna could mount a naval strike and take the capital.

At the urging of Governor John Bigler, the Californian Legislature was relocated to Sacramento in 1854. Why? It provided a more inland location that could only be reached by river, which made it very defensible and was the Pacific-most terminal of the Transcontinental Railroad. Another boon was the number of Sacramento hotels that could be used by the legislature. Given this vital infrastructure, it became the unofficial capital until the state's Constitutional Convention opted to make Sacramento the official capital in 1879.

Why wasn't the capital simply moved to San Francisco? Well, for a brief legislative session in 1861, the capital was located in grand old San Francisco. This is interesting as there was a considerable movement to make the only true city in the Golden State the capital. San Francisco had access to rail and an incredibly defensible harbor. Indeed the Presidio was now the home of the US 6th Army.

That question has never been satisfactorily answered. Because of that, rumors have swirled that Bigler was "encouraged" to steer the legislature to Sacramento at the behest of John Sutter, Jr., who was instrumental in transforming the town into a cosmopolitan city. Whether or not that is true is up for debate, but given the prestige and infrastructure already in place in San Francisco, it does make for interesting conspiratorial fodder.

One other problem that is often added to the conspiracy mix was how often Sacaramento flooded. In 1850 and 1861, the city was flooded by the Sacramento River. These floods led to subsequent cholera and flu outbreaks that decimated the local population and seriously hampered commerce.

Selling homes combine the ability of the property seller to make the house looks very attractive and appealing to a home buyer. Furthermore, you have to equip yourself with the proper training and understanding on how to properly sell a home most specially if you are planning to sell a house and lot in Sacramento region.

There are a lot of Real estate tricks you can emulate that Real estate professionals used to do in selling homes. These tricks are proven to be effective and can immediately help you sell your property. Check out some of the selling tips I have written below and be certain that your home for sale will be sold in just a short span of time.

Make the home looks appealing to the eyes – Keep in mind that potential buyers would first see the exterior of the property so make sure to paint the exterior walls before inviting them for a show. Apart from the exterior, you also need to keep the lawn and landscaping neatly. Make sure too, that the entrance gate and the doorway look pleasing to the buyers eyes. You may also consider putting up fresh flowers and a clean carpet to receive potential home buyers. You can also emulate property owners who are used hire a cleaning service while their property is on the market to keep the entire property presentable until someone bought it.

Clear the house – Piece of advice, throw, sell or donate furniture that you think would just cost obstructions in the house you are selling. if there is something in the house that you don’t immediately need then throw it away, donate, sell or put it up temporarily in your storage room. Remember that buyers would like to check a house that has minimal furnishings and belongings so don’t make an extra effort to decorate the property with so much furnishing just make it look livable to impress potential buyers.

Clean the house – Clean the entire house the same way you do when you have possible guests who want to sleepover at your house for at least a week. If you know that you will have a potential buyer then do the same. Clean the house the day before the showing. Never allow the buyer to make a bad impression that you are selling a dirty home. Make sure the buyer will be impressed if you want to dispose of the property right away.
